“We were all pretty surprised, but what a great Christmas present,” said Daniel, in an exclusive interview with the Star.

The certified cheque arrived on the Friday, which didn’t give Daniel a lot of time to prepare the car for delivery.

That afternoon, four custom 20-inch rims arrived at the dealership. Bieber, 17, was pimping his friend’s ride — big time. The rims were so unique that Daniel had to bring the car to a specialty rim shop to get them installed. He did it with half an hour to spare on Friday night before the shop closed for the holidays.

“It was a bit of a race to the end,” said Daniel.

Then, at about lunchtime the next day, Christmas Eve, Daniel delivered the car to the Stratford home of Ryan Butler, Bieber’s childhood friend.

Butler is familiar to Bieber fans since having made a guest appearance in Bieber’s video for“One Time.”

Daniel called Butler’s father 10 minutes before arriving to give the Butler family time to gather out front for the big surprise. When Daniel pulled up in the flashy white convertible, about a dozen people were on the lawn of the Butler home — including Bieber himself.

The pop star, minus girlfriend Selena Gomez, was in town to spend Christmas with his family and friends.

“It was a great buddy moment. Justin and Ryan were jumping up and down,” said Daniel. “Justin ran up and shook my hand and thanked me for bringing the car over and then the two jumped in the car and took off.”

But they didn’t go far. Less than two minutes later, the two childhood friends pulled back into the driveway. Ryan had forgotten his driver’s licence. Then, they were off again.

Butler later posted a Twitter message saying: “Justin got me a present. #swag!”

Matt Wigmore, a manager at the dealership, said the business checked with Butler’s parents before the sale.

“We wanted to talk to the parents first before we delivered the car, to make sure everything was in place,” said Wigmore.

The dealership would not disclose how much the car cost, but a similar white Mustang with black stripes on the dealership website shows an asking price of $15,997 plus taxes. The rims would be extra.

Wigmore said the vehicle was originally sold in the U.S. The suggested list price for a Mustang convertible in 2009 was $25,255 U.S.

The dealership, meanwhile, has put a sign outside advertising the sale that says: “Justin Bieber shops here.”

A few parents have wandered in asking what the sign is about, but so far, there haven’t been any frantic teens showing up. Sales haven’t gone up appreciably as of yet, the dealership said. Many Bieber fans likely aren’t old enough to drive.

For Daniel, it was the sales experience of a lifetime.

“It really gave me a lot to talk about over the holidays,” he said. “That was definitely a memorable sale.”
